I have been a horse lover since I was old enough
to see how beautiful they are! I started collecting Breyer model
horses as a young girl in the early 70's. My models were loved
and played with, posed, stabled and displayed. I had dolls not
to play with, but as riders for my models! I got my first horse
at 11. I rode mostly English as a youngster, and competed in
English events including jumping, dressage and eventing.
My sister and I made our own custom tack and custom
models with crude methods and supplies. I am thrilled to see
what can be accomplished now! I started making tack as a way
of being able t show in performance. At some point, I decided
to try paining as well, and discovered I could do pretty good
at that as well. I now seem to paint more than I make tack. I
am also the president of RESS, the Realistic Equine Sculpture
Society.
I currently live with my husband and son on a bit
of property in Grass Valley, CA with our three horses, two goats,
two dogs, two cats, and a bird. I currently ride both English
and Western. I strongly favor natural methods, and enjoy playing
with my horses as much as I can. We have a rescued PMU mare and
her colt, Toby, who is enjoying being the youngest of the group.
I also enjoy other outdoor activities such as camping,
motorcycling, bicycling, hiking, skiing and so on!
